On 13.11.2022, our highly esteemed colleague and former head of the Department of Water and Wastewater Chemistry at the Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Waste Management at Leibniz Universität Hannover, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Rüffer, passed away at the age of 96.
From 1959 to 1992, Hans Rüffer led and shaped the field of water and wastewater chemistry at the Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Waste Management at what is now Leibniz Universität Hannover in teaching and research for over 33 years. His staff, doctoral students and students were able to benefit greatly from his extensive expertise with a focus on the "treatment of industrial wastewater", as he always cultivated open exchange and was happy to pass on his knowledge. In addition to his technical expertise, we must also emphasise his likeable and very humorous manner, which made working with him very enjoyable and conducive and which we remember with pleasure. We have lost a very esteemed and committed teacher and colleague and will always honour his memory.
