This year, the first results of the BMBF-funded RePhoR funding initiative will be presented to the specialist public. The SATELLITE project will be represented with an exciting presentation on strategic investment planning at the “Essener Tagung” on 28.03.2025 in Aachen. Although the project does not end until December 31, 2025, initial results from the field of model-based decision support will be presented using the example of a wastewater treatment plant network in Lower Saxony. The project’s products include an app-based, free-to-use tool for simple process comparisons of wastewater treatment process chains, which can provide simple support for decision-making by calculating parameters crucial for evaluation. An open access module library in which various processes (activated sludge process, anaerobic digestion, dewatering, drying, etc.) are recorded with their characteristic process data and can be used for one’s own simplified process chain design. The support tools are supplemented by a model for nutrient planning, which can be used to determine regionally and seasonally differentiated nutrient requirements and supplies by linking various agricultural and wastewater related data in order to support targeted local nutrient recycling.
