On October 6, 2025, Thanh Nguyen successfully defended her doctoral thesis at the Institute of Sanitary Engineering and Waste Management at Leibniz University Hannover.
With her dissertation "Performance and Kinetics of Biochar for the Treatment of Landfill Leachate Containing COD and Heavy Metal Pollutants," she has made a significant contribution to research on environmentally friendly methods of treating landfill leachate.
In her work, Ms. Nguyen investigated the potential of biochar, derived from waste products, for the effective removal of organic substances and heavy metals from landfill leachate. Her innovative research presents an environmentally sustainable solution for water treatment and opens up new possibilities for sustainable approaches in wastewater management.
