World Water Day 2022

Today, March 22, is World Water Day, which is proclaimed annually by the United Nations to remind of the importance of water as an essential, vital resource. This year's World Water Day is themed "Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible" - groundwater is a fundamental part of the water cycle and essential for drinking water supplies. About two-thirds of drinking water in Germany comes from groundwater, so protecting this resource is crucial. This can only be achieved holistically, and climate change in particular poses new challenges for all stakeholders in the water industry.

How a sustainable, water-sensitive design of the city can look like is being researched at ISAH - internationally in the project "KEYS" on sponge city development in China, but also directly here in "TransMiT". Have a look at the project homepages (KEYS and TransMiT) or get on your bike yourself and discover different blue-green infrastructures in Hannover with the bike tour "Wasserfahren"!
