Following on from the predecessor project TransMiT, the 2-year continuation phase TransKOM - Integration of Resource-Optimised Separate Drainage through Transformation of Municipal Planning Processes for Existing Neighbourhoods - will start in September 2022. TransKOM is part of the RES:Z measure and is funded by the BMBF with a total volume of 1.4 million euros.
The concept of quality-based separation drainage (qbTE) developed in TransMiT and the newly initiated administrative process Stadt-Quartier 2050+ are the two strategy components that are being further developed in the TransKOM project and implemented in Hannover and Hildesheim. As a municipal partner, the state capital of Hannover continues to be a partner and leads the strategy component of continuing municipal processes around integral planning and neighbourhood transformation in existing buildings (SK2). The topics of the state capital are complemented by a work package in which the interfaces between private property owners and municipal action are considered. IIRM and spar+bau are involved here as partners. Two further work packages on neighbourhood-specific impact assessment in the context of long-term neighbourhood strategy development (water balance and building greenery, ISAH-LUH) and quantification of heat stress (GeoNet) are also part of the strategy component. In Hildesheim, the technical solution of quality-based separation drainage is being further developed under the leadership of Stadtentwässerung Hildesheim (SK1). The focus of the strategy component is the implementation of a quality-controlled wastewater diverter. In addition, the engineering office bpi is developing a precipitation water quality forecast and the ISAH a concept for urban water management. With the new partner, the city of Hildesheim, urban planning is directly involved in the integration of an innovative drainage system and results from the work packages on impact quantification located in SK2 can be incorporated into the concrete selection of measures, as can the processes of strategic neighbourhood planning.
The aim is to bring together the strategy of quality-based separation drainage and the integral planning processes Stadt-Quartier 2050+ and to further develop them through implementation and testing in Hanover and Hildesheim. The continuation of the research results will thus help to further develop infrastructure systems of water management in existing buildings in a resource-efficient way, to design urban areas sustainably and, against the background of the site-specific conditions, to create the prerequisites for a forward-looking climate-adapted further development of existing urban districts.
