Research Field Waste- and Recyclingmanagement
Considering the increasing global demand for resources and the increasing challenges in the treatment and processing of waste, the institute is developing cross-system solutions for the conversion of waste into marketable products and environmentally friendly disposal.
In addition to the production of renewable energies in the context of the present energy crisis, the recovery of nutrients, secondary resources, and the upcycling are in our focus. This research field primarily deals with problems of municipal waste separation technology and other administrative units, waste disposal companies and companies operating waste treatment plants and focus on the development and optimisation of processes and methods of closed-loop waste management.
Through integrated consideration of both supply and disposal of waste, strategies for reducing greenhouse gases and achieving challenges of environmental protection and sustainability are developed in this research field.
