N- and P-Elimination and -Recovery

Research Team N- and P-Elimination and -Recovery

The research group "N- and P-Elimination & -Recovery" deals with processes and procedures for nitrogen and phosphorus elimination and recovery in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants. In addition to the investigation of various process concepts for nitrification and denitrification at municipal wastewater treatment plants, a special research topic is the deammonification process with a focus on process development and optimization of highly loaded partial stream treatment (industrial and communal) as well as process implementation in the main stream.

In the case of "phosphorus", the research focus is on the implementation and optimisation of biological phosphorus elimination and on the development and investigation of P-recovery concepts (focus on integration and adaptation of the overall plant and recovery from the aqueous phase/sludge).
